What events do you offer?

We host almost everything! Our core events include:

    (semester 1 and 2)

  8. End of year boat cruise

What are the benefits of being a member?

You get discounted event tickets (save up to $20 each), so you often make back the cost after a few events. You also receive exclusive sponsor vouchers or year-long perks, discounted merchandise, and a welcome goodie bag to get your OD year started.

(Vouchers are typically provided on sign up at o-week or welcome back night, please contact us here if you are a new UMOSS member who hasn’t received their goodie bag)

I’ve signed up to UMOSS, what now?

Attend “Welcome to Health Sciences” or “Welcome Back Night” to get a UMOSS ’26 sticker attached to your student ID. You need this sticker to access UMOSS perks and benefits. If you can’t attend these events, contact us here or email umoss.optom@gmail.com to arrange another time to get the sticker.

Which membership option do I choose when signing up?

There are three membership options on the UMSU website:

  • Optometry Students Society Student Membership — $15: for current Optometry students at the University of Melbourne.

  • Optometry Students Society Former 4-year Membership Renewal — $0: for students who previously held the discontinued 4-year membership.

  • Optometry Students Society Associate Membership — $20: for non-Optometry students at the University of Melbourne.

I made a mistake when filling out a form

Whether it is for an event or purchase via our store, you can contact us here or via email at umoss.optom@gmail.com. Please let us know what mistake you made and what you’d like to change it to.

A committee member will be in contact with you to amend those changes.

I want to swap my locker allocation with someone else

How long do orders take?

Some products take longer to fulfil than others, please refer to the lead times below:

  • Name badge: up to 4 weeks (after order by date)

  • Lab coat: up to 4 weeks (after order by date)

  • Lanyard: within 3 business days

  • Lens case by Jacob Pacifico: within 2 weeks

  • Master lock - locker: within 5 business days

We coordinate with staff so students receive orders on time. Your student rep will tell you when and where to pick up your purchase. If that time or date doesn’t suit you, please let your rep know.
